About this site

Peppers and Smoke was a backyard barbecue site out of Texas, started in 2007. Its bacon burger posts got passed around a fair bit at the time. The site stopped being updated some years later and eventually went offline.

The domain was bought at auction in 2026 and the site rebuilt. The original pages have been restored from web archives and left at the URLs they always had, because people still link to them.

What's original and what isn't

Restored pages

The cooks under /bbq/ (the bacon burger, the deep fried bacon burger, brisket, pork butt, pork loin, chicken and sauces) are recovered from the original site and belong to whoever wrote them. The captions are the original text; only headings have been added so the pages read properly on a phone.

New writing

Everything under /bbq/rubs/ is new, written in 2026, and dated as such. No new writing is presented as though it were part of the old site.
